In a 10 lined paragraph and using the article as a reference write your personal opinion about what do you think luck is and why people give importance to being lucky.
Due date: April 23rd
Hello everybody!!
ResponderBorrarTo start, I observed the image of the publication and saw that there is a "Niguenta" and I remembered that in my house there is one, also in my house there are many objects such as “lucky cats”, Buddhas, many elephants and others. My mom believes in those things a lot and she has instilled in me those beliefs, she thinks that having those types of objects in the house attracts luck. I think there are many things that are only luckily, but most of the things that happen to me I feel are by God's blessing. I also remember that many of the traditions that are performed at midnight mentioned in the article, in my house were practiced, for example: eat twelve grapes, wear something yellow and turn the house with a suitcase. Finally, I consider that they are traditions that unite the family, but that by doing that, things are always going to be fulfilled, we must strive.

ResponderBorrarLuck is an event that in a way is positive for people and, in general, happens unexpectedly. I think it's important for people because most of them want good things to happen, as well as being able to achieve their goals or get what they want. Many people believe that doing certain rituals will attract luck and make their wishes come true. For example, in the new year many people for the new year do as rituals as walking with a suitcase, or underwear of a certain color depending on what they want for that new year. In my family it is customary to eat 12 grapes in order to ensure prosperity.Believing in luck depends on each person.
ResponderBorrarI believe that all these beliefs are made out of habit, so that in reality they are achieved, they are made by mentality and continue to do what our grandparents have been doing for a long time, because just as the one who wrote the article, I believe that each one of them earn what works and fight every day, with respect to the images that one keeps of a saint this issue is already different, because if there is a God who controls everything, then having an image can give us security and confidence of Everything we do is going to be good, but with regard to the grapes, it does not mean that each wish is fulfilled, it is more to remember or to set goals for the year we want to make. I agree with the writer because not only should you stay in order to ask luck that things fall from the sky, but help that luck to come to our lives.
ResponderBorrarWhen I read the article, my first thought was that I didn't know that I used a lot of words and did traditions that represents lucky and fortune. I was surprised because I didn't think those words like "Dios quiera" or "Ojalá" were considerated reference of fortune and providence because I alwalys used them in conversations with my friends and family. The others customs mencionated in the article reflect the costarican traditions that bring lucky. It characterize our culture that want lucky and a good life to face up bad lucky or bad times in our lifes. I think the tardition to search Santa Lucía flowers in january to have money all year is a good and funny tradition in my family because it joins us and create goods memories. Also, in the future when I tell my sons the costarican traditons for luck to keep this activities for all years.
ResponderBorrarHello everyone!
ResponderBorrarI think the luck is a feeling, when you think no bad is going to pass, and everything of you are going to do, is going to be okay. The popular importance of lucky, is because you need feel sure and good, and if you feel lucky your performance and all of things that you do are going to be good. I think when the people say they feel lucky maybe is a superstition and it not means everything is going to be fine, I think we have some good days and some bad days, but it not depends of a flower (like Santa Lucía) or wear (yellow wear) or something else. I think the lucky depends of your mind and your actions, if you work hard and try to do the things of the best way, you are going to be lucky.
In my opinion and based on the article what is meant by luck changes from one culture to another. In some of them, luck is almost always seen as the way we are doing in life in how we do or do not succeed in what we do.
ResponderBorrarBut that luck many times we can change ourselves because if we do nothing to improve that luck it is possible that our life goes astray and that nothing goes well for us not to strive.
But that luck many times we can change ourselves because if we do nothing to improve that luck it is possible that our life goes astray and that nothing goes well for us not to strive.
Other people give many attributes of luck to rituals that are done according to them to improve luck but for me, those things are not true because we are the only ones who work our luck with what we do every day. Although I also believe that faith in God is something very important for life to go well.
Personally, I think the culture in Costa Rica is strange because we have some curious beliefs. One of this beliefs is the sense of luck. This sense comes from the religious traditions to put everything on God´s hand. I think this form of thinking is good in some cases and is a peaceful way to see the unexpected things and life events. But this isn´t good at all, the "ticos" have the habit to leave everything in God, especially the most important responsibilities, this behavior makes us lazy persons and we don´t want to think how to solve our problems or deal with them. The traditions like run a blokc with suitcases or pick Santa Lucía flowers must keep in the culture and teach to the new generations because is part of being a Tico, you are preserving the best things of the culture and makes us different of the rest of the world.
ResponderBorrarFirst of all, I respect the customs or traditions of all people and families, even if they are different customs than mine or the customs of my family. Personally, I do not believe in luck or superstitions, I believe in God and in his plans for my life, and I also believe that people are responsible for charting our path, and we are responsible for what happens in our future. Every action has its reaction, so, every decision we make has its consequences, can be good or bad consequences, and to know which is the best decision, I consult God (in my case).
ResponderBorrarI like the report, is interesting. I love my country, because it is different and the people are friendly. The Tico have a special way of being because always think in God, family and work, when you go to a rural town they always greet to you, in the city we lost this beautiful custom. The New Year is very important. Is the new opportunity to fulfill all the goals that you have. The hope to find a new and real love or perfect work, maybe own house, have a good health or maybe lose weight. But the best part is that although the Tico have superstitions, he always has faith in God. We always use phrases like "Si Dios quiere", it means "God willing". It's a simple phrase but for us it's more than that, it's like you know that the life is hard but you want to keep going. The Tico is Pura vida, despite the problems we believe in a better future for us and our family.
ResponderBorrarThe lucky is everything that we don’t have control in the life. It’s the destiny that we can’t change with only our actions. It comes from our religious belief or our humility that to know we are humans, therefore we aren’t perfect. And for this reason, the lucky is all these external factors impact the life, they can be positives or negatives.
ResponderBorrarThere are many ways to call the lucky, certain are crazies or without a real reason to be and that’s fun. For example my mother likes the elephants and she has a million of then in the living room. Or me, I have to put my right shoe first. Otherwise, I feel uncomfortable all the day.
For the people, the lucky is important because they find a feel of peaceful, a feel of “everything will be right”. Without the lucky, the people feels that all their work can be useful because an external factor can ruin their plans and their success.
From the beginning of the article, I thought in Santa Lucia flower because in my family is a tradition give this flower. Some of my uncles and ants go to my town on January 1st to pick Santa Lucia flowers and give it to their families. I don’t believe in this flower, but I like to share the tradition with my family.
ResponderBorrarIn my opinion, good luck and bad luck doesn’t exist. Only exist decisions, some better than others. And every decision has its consequence, and the consequence is the “luck” for the people. If the consequence is bad for us, then we have bad luck, and if the consequence is good, we have good luck, that’s all. We need to take the better decision every moment for don’t have regrets. And if we take a wrong decision we can make all in our power to solve that, or we can blame the “luck”.
